Dmitry Zyubenko is a Russian-born gemologist and gemstone dealer with more than 20 years’ experience in mining and precious gemstones trading. From his early age he was fascinated by the twin fields of exploration and gem stones collecting. Both of these interests became apparent in 1998, while studying Gemology at the Academy of Appraisal of Moscow and German Gemological Institute of Idar-Oberstein.

Feeling compelled to learn more, it was then that he decided to make his first expedition to significant mining location in South East Asia in 1999. He spent 5 consecutive years in Burma studying gemstones and exploration process. He helped Myanmar Gem Enterprises to organize selling of rough material to the international markets. He was the only European businessman who could build the full business chain from mining rough to polished gem stones during the military regime in Burma. Owning a cutting factory with 48 employers in Rangoon in 2002-2005 Dmitry successfully supplied calibrated rubies and sapphires to the Swiss watch industry.

Since 2002 Dmitry has been mining precious stones in Burma in Mogok region. His unique gemstones are selling at the Sotheby’s, Christie’s auctions in Geneva, Hong Kong, New York, to the international gem stones dealers or going directly to the private collections. Dmitry Zyubenko is a well-known person at the auctions, world gem & jewelry fairs, GIA and ICA gemological conferences and congresses.

Two of Dmitry’s gem stones (ruby and star sapphire) are granted by GIA Monograph as the exceptional and unique precious gem stones in the world.
